Little low: May have hemophilia a. Usually seen in men. Women can be carriers. Can have minor bleeding or asymptomatic. I agree that she needs to see a hematologist. She may require treatment with a drug called desmopressin if surgery is required. A pediatric hematol-: Ogist needs to do a medical history (including pregnancy, labor & delivery), a 3-generation family history for bleeding disorders , a physical exam & further lab studies. Hemophilia a is inherited in an x-linked pattern, so it's seen almost exclusively in boys. A girl could have von willebrand disease, turner syndrome, or carrier female status with mild hemophilia a.
