NO: A prior open abdominal procedure does not preclude laparoscopic cholecystectomy. As a surgeon, i make some changes to laparoscopic approach based on prior scar tissue and incisions, but it is unlikely that your prior appendectomy would be an issue. Good luck.

No: Unless your appendix was perforated and caused a significant amount of inflammation in the abdomen, scarring post open appendectomy should not preclude a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A surgeon may need to be a little more careful when he enters the abdomen as adhesions may be present, but in the overwhelming number of cases a surgeon can negotiate around these adhesions.
