A member asked:

Is it normal for my toe to hurt so much after an ingrown toenail removal?

Pain is normal: Pain is expected after ingrown toenail removals. Having said that, pain is typically controlled with over the counter medications such as tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin and subsides after a few days. If you are concerned with your pain level, you should get in touch with the physician who performed the procedure.

Yes: After any minor surgical procedure pain is common. Follow your physician instructions and the pain should significantly improve in the next few days. If you develop signs of infection or increased pain let them know and follow up as soon as possible.
