Yes and No: Infection can be due to a fungus or due to bacteria. Antibiotics will probably not be effective in treating a fungal infection. The type of antibiotic that one may needs will depend on the type, extent and severity of the infection. For a superficial localized infections, one may benefit with application of a topical neosporin or a triple antibiotic ointmaent.
