Quite possibly: The toe is a dirty area in general and so somewhat prone to infection, which can cause a foul odor as well as redness, increased temperature, and a pity lent discharge. I would definitely let your surgeon know immediately in case it is infected.

Post op Care.: Post surgical odor can be a sign of bad things to come. I would think that the surgeon inspected the area when the pin was removed. Regardless, you need to act quickly, and call the office for advice on how to treat and possible antibiotic coverage. Do not wait on this.
