Yes and No: Infection can be due to a fungus, bacteria, or virus. Antibiotics will probably not be effective in treating a fungal infection. The type of antibiotic that one may needs will depend on the type, extent and severity of the infection. Have it evaluated. You may need a prescription.

For a superficial localized infections, one may benefit with application of a topical neosporin or a triple antibiotic ointmaent.
