A member asked:

Can hitting your head and getting an injury make you bipolar?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: A serious head injury can have effects of emotional disturbances, such as depression or impulsivity. However, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder is a very specific one, and is not usually associated with a head injury. The symptoms of bipolar disorder can be exacerbated by a head injury, but usually not caused by it. Good luck!
