Yes: Memory loss is the most common symptom of alzheimer's. However, alzheimer's dementia refers to a global decline in cognitive abilities. Problems with reasoning and the completion of tasks is common as are difficulties with judgement. As alzheimer's gets worse, depression, delusions, and hallucinations occur that lead to combative behaviour.

Funtional impairment: In addition to memory loss, people with alzheimer's disease cannot function well (e.g., use telephone, dress themselves, etc) and also develop abnormal behaviors (become suspicious, wander, resist caregivers).
