Eval first: First - get evaluated to see if your symptoms are due to adhd. If not, exploration of the reasons for your symptoms will likely lead to a helpful treatment plan. If you do have adhd - there are a number of different medication options. I would take the step to find out what is going on. Take care.

Consultation: Speak with your doctor about a referral for neuropsychological testing. If you did not have ADHD as a child, and have not had a brain injury, brain infection, have used medication or drugs that can cause similar symptoms, you probably do not have ADHD. Testing should be able to identify the cause of your symptoms and direct you toward treatment.

Best performance: People perform their best when well rested, properly nourished, in good health & in a comfortable setting. These are also components that must be part of an evaluation for focus disorders. Just because you think you have ADD doesn't mean you do or don't. Unless you can exclude the other issues, there is no reason to go on meds for ADD.
