A member asked:

Could my doctor prescribe anything to help with my adhd? i'm afraid to ask because he's treating me for opioid dependence with the medication bunavail

Your doctor is not: exactly following the regulations if he or she is using bunavail to treat your addiction, as this medication is designed for the treatment of pain, and does NOT last the 24 hours that other buprenorphine preparations do (like Suboxone/Subutex, generics, Zubsolv and others). You should see a doctor certified in addiction medicine/psychiatry who is using approved medication. Then talk about ADHD.

Bunavil & ADHD: Bunavil is a buccal film that contains buprenorphine & naloxone, similar to Zubsolv & Suboxone, all approved for outpatient maintenance treatment of opioid dependence. If you are on this medication & formally diagnosed with ADHD your doctor may first want to try treating the ADHD with therapy +/- non-stimulant FDA approved ADHD medication. Stimulant treatment requires expertise & close monitoring
