3 -4 days: You are just about past the riskiest time as it is pretty unlikely after 4 days. Avoid smoking and clean the area very gently and you should be fine.

About 2 days: A dry socket is caused by the drying out or exposure of bone without a clot in the socket to protect the it. Most often a dry socket will manifest itself within the first or second post extraction.

Should be safe now: Dry sockets usually occur within three or four days of extraction. If you keep the area clean and clear of food debris you should never get a dry socket which is nothing more than an infection in the wound.

Usually 3-4 days: If you follow your doctors care instructions dry socket is rare. Lower third molar (wisdom teeth) extractions are the most common place for this condition to occur, super rare with any other extraction. Not smoking and not drinking alcohol while the area is healing also helps prevent dry socket.

Safe now: If you don't have pain by now, you will not have a dry socket. After 3 days the blood clot is well establishes and unlikely to be dissolved or removed. You are doing fine!
