Referred pain: If the back injury occurred at about the l-5 or s-1 level, symptoms could be referred to the appropriate dermatomes in the foot.

Pinched nerve: This may be due to a pinched nerve or herniated disc. You should see your doctor for a detailed exam as well as x-rays and/or mri.
