People vary: Gabapentin side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, foot swelling, but anti-depressants are varied meds with many different profiles, including seizure risks, dryness of mouth/ eyes, drowsiness and dizziness, suicidal and/or homicidal ideations, just to mention a few. These drugs are used for different purposes.
