Meds / cardiology: Lvh in most cases is a physiologic response to increased impediment to forward flow (hypertension or valvular obstruction most commonly). Occasionally a hereditary LVH (asymmetric) can occur which can lead to dynamic outflow obstruction (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). This can lead to symptoms of obstruction (chest pain), or tachycardia and even death. It is diagnosed by echo w help from cardio.
