Probably, but…: Check with surgeon first. May have provided flat-bottomed shoe for walking; otherwise, use crutches carefully. Protect the surgical site as much as possible; elevate foot on chair with pillow to prevent swelling. Take along any pain med provided so can use it if needed. Don't drive self; have someone else drive you. Have fun—if surgeon says it's ok.

Usually wait: You just had surgery. You need to keep the foot out of the public due to murphy's law. Besides keeping your foot down for 5 hours could cause swelling and pain and delay healing. Please call your doctor and get his opinion before doing anything not on your home going instructions sheet.
