Unlikely : Unlikely you will need crutches, but you will need special shoe. Talk to your doctor about the details.

Hammertoe: The procedure that you are asking about is called an arthroplasty and it involves removing a piece of bone from a toe which will cause the toe to be realigned. Most of the time you will be placed in a surgical shoe with possible crutches for a couple of days after the surgery. You will also have stitches which will either need to be removed or will dissolve on there own.
