Can untreated abscessed tooth cause tongue lesions and pain?

Pain yes: Tongue lesions, no. However swelling below the tongue can occur.

Possibly.: Abscesses are infections. This pain from the tongue and the lesions on it may be from the infection, but more likely the abcessed tooth is broken down and has sharp edges cutting the tongue. Regardless, an untreated abcess tooth can be deadly. Your choices are treat the tooth with a root canal and crown (cap) or extract the tooth. Don't wait, see a dentist immediately!

Generally not: If you have chronic infections of the mouth it is possible that it is decreasing your immune system to fight off other types of infections.
