Swelling: You should first try to ice and elevate your swollen foot. Also otc anti-inflammatory medications can also help.

Ice: Lots of ice, elevation, compress with an ace bandage and rest. Take an over the counter antiinflammatory like advil (ibuprofen). If no better, then go to your favorite podiatrist.

Depends on the cause: Some causes of swelling of the feet can include systemic problems such as hypertension, and problems with the kidneys and localized issues such as arthritis, cellulitis, lymphatic obstruction, blood clots, varicose veins and trauma. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
