It depends...: It all depends on what is the reason why you are having swelling. If you don't suffer of any illness a very common reason is what is called dependent edema if you stand up or are on your feet for a long time during the day. In that case elevation of your feet for 20-30 minutes can help. Also if you consume a lot of salt or sodium that can cause it so try to go low on that in your diet.

Find out the cause: Prior to Rx, diagnosis is critical.Foot swelling could be due to dependent edema or poor circulation to name just 2 vascular causes. For edema a doctor might recommend less salt or diuretic.For decreased circ, TED stockings &/or Physical therapy. Thus a MD eval is ideal as you are young. Likewise, your shoes may be too tight, your diet may require changes. Pregnancy & hormones can also be causes.
