Yes: unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to NSAIDS or you have had a previous G.I. ulcer, you should be able to take the ibuprofen for the pain and swelling you're experiencing.

Better options: Would be to try and prevent the swelling. So wearing compression hoosiery would be a good idea. While standing, try and move around so not in one spot. Try and sit down when you have an oppurtunity.
