Hot towel: It is common to have face swelling after tooth removal especially infected ones. Cold compression for the first day following the surgery and warm compression after 2 and 3 days of surgery is recommended to reduce the swelling. Painkiller like Motrin also will help because of anti-inflammatory effect.

Reduce swelling: You see the Oral Surgeon. May require cold compresses for 2 days, then warm. May require drainage. May require antibiotics. Check in with your practitioner.
