Not usually: In the hands of a gentle and skilled needler - usually insertions are not felt or are very tolerable. However, there are some points which can be uncomfortable. There is one point below the nose that is quite uncomfortable - but works oh, so well. Very long, larger diameters needles are more likely to be felt (ie. 75mm to 125 mm needles).
