Several causes: Coughing to the point of vomiting is termed post-tussive emesis. Causes can be certain lung infections such as whooping cough (pertussis) or pneumonia. Asthma is a fairly common cause. Also, if there is a foreign body that has been aspirated, this can generate a cough with a lot of pressure and induce vomiting.
