Join AA: Follow their protocol, work with other members. There are meds available to curb craving, and you could discuss with your doctor. Some psychiatrists and psychologists deal with addictive personalities, and may be very helpful. Good luck.

Alcohol Dependence: If a person is going through withdrawal after stopping alcohol use – detoxification in an inpatient setting (sometimes outpatient) may be needed. Attending a rehabilitation program (in or outpatient) is optimum. Basing sobriety on Alcoholics Anonymous can be effective. Some work with an addiction medicine specialist or an addiction psychiatrist.
