Surgery: The standard treatment for a both bone forearm fracture (radius and ulna bones) in an adult is surgery called an open reduction with internal fixation. Usually metal plates and screws are used to fix these broken bones. Usually this is an outpatient (same day) surgery.

Compound fracture: means "open fracture" when the bone protrudes out of the skin as result of the injury. These need to be washed out well, and reduced and cared for. Minor grade 1 injuries are managed like a closed injury and to is fracture specific. higher grade injury with larger soft tissue injury may require re debridement and delayed fixation. What to do?, run, don't walk to the hospital or call 911

Be seen: Would certainly need to be seen and treated. The term "compound" usually refers to an open fracture in which the skin around the fracture has been violated. Surgery is usually required and the healing is sometimes longer than a similar fracture that is "closed". Discuss the specifics of your case with your doctor.
