Yes but: They are two meds of the same class but can feel very different. Abilify (aripiprazole) tends to cause insomnia while Olanzapine is very sedating. Raising the dose of Abilify (aripiprazole) may cause sedation at or above 20mg, reducing the need for olanzapine. Olanzapine has a lot of wt gain and problems with blood sugars and is usually reserved for patients who haven't responded to other agents.
