Follow it closely: Unfortunately, hashimoto's thyroiditis, the most common cause of hypothyroidism, can be associated with unstable TSH for months or years early in the disease. Be sure it is followed closely and treatment adjusted when necessary. Also, be sure she gets enough vitamin d and good nutrition so her immune system is functioning as well as possible. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition.
