A member asked:

Could a 3.7 wbc count in a 7yo indicate leukemia if no other symptoms are present? rbc and platelets normal, smear shows "few abnormal lymphocytes"

Usually benign: This is common in kids in the weeks after some minor viral illnesses. Leukemia by definition will suppress all the blood elements so platelets, which are the shortest lived of all the elements are going to be low as well as the rbc's in most cases.
