Depends on the food: If the salt you get is from fried foods, snack foods, cheese, etc. Then weight loss could be difficult. If the salt is sprinkled on healthier foods like tomatoes or celery, however, no problem.

Salty Situation: If you consume large amounts of salt (sodium chloride) it will also make you retain more water and hence you will gain weight. Excess salt intake is linked to many health problems and should be limited to 2, 500 mg daily at most. Try a salt substitute (potassium chloride) in moderation to offset the enormous amounts of sodium chloride in our diet. Try to curb your salt cravings if possible!
