Is it common for doctors to find ulcers during a colonoscopy?

Not common, but...: When one performs a colonoscopy, common finds are things like polyps, diveritculosis (outpouchings of the colon wall), and unfortunately masses, which can be ulcerated. Sometimes, there are ulcers found associated with certain colon conditions, such as ulcerative colitis. It might be better to go back to your doctor and ask again what they meant when they told you they found an "ulcer".

Can be seen: Sometimes present in inflammation of lining of the colon (inflammatory bowel disease). Infection can also cause these.
