A member asked:

Is mild upper back (just below neck) discomfort during chronic sinusitis flare ups and unrelated to cardiovascular issues due to the sinusitis itself?

Viral infection: Many acute flare-ups of chronic sinusitis are due to viral infections. Many viruses can also cause muscle aches, so they may well be related, although the sinusitis doesn't cause the back pain.

Possibly: Viral infections in the sinuses can cause muscle aches anywhere in the body. Also, the sinus pressure in the forehead often triggers a tension headache that is felt further up on the forehead as well as in the back of the head. This muscle tension can, in turn, pull on the muscles in the upper back, causing discomfort there as well.
