See your physician: It is not uncommon for people to take up to a year to recover from ankle surgery. While some pain is expected, your pain may warrant further evaluation. I would recommend seeing your surgeon.

Ankle surgery : Although not common this can occur in some patients up to 12 months after ankle surgery. One option you have is to do physical therapy which can help with pain and discomfort. If this continues i would recommend seeing your surgeon. In some rare cases some people have a reaction to the metal screws and plates.

If plate: Pain is constant it could be from a nerve entrapment to the area. Hardware can always be removed but sharp pain often due to nerve issue. Get the nerves tested.
