Too much water: If a mother had an excess of fluid or hydra bios during her pregnancy it may indicate that there is a problem with the infant. Discuss the problem with your OB or your pediatrician.

Confusing question: During pregnancy, a woman puts on the weight of the baby, the amniotic fluid , the placenta and umbilical cord. The common range is 20-25 pounds, but some gain more or less. If mom only gains the weight of the average 7.5 lb baby she is unhealthy. Some retained leg water is expected when baby mass slows blood flow in the pelvis.
