Now: Food allergies have no age limit. Usually environmental allergies can occur later, especially seasonal ones start around 3 or 4, but indoor allergies, such as dust mites and pet dander can occur earlier. I would consult an allergist if you suspect your infant had allergic reactions.

Any age: Any patient can be tested at any age for allergies. The statement that the very young cannot be skin tested for allergies is a myth. Having said that, appropriate testing must be done for the appropriate patient with the appropriate history.
