Therapy: A course of physical therapy and possible steroid injection is the initial approach to a stiff knee post surgery. If you fail surgery then a knee arthroscopy with removal of scar tissue and adhesions should be performed.

Scarring: Arthrofibrosis means scarring of the inside of the joint. This process happens after surgery, and sometimes without surgery (think "frozen shoulder"). Conservative treatment with physical therapy, nsaia/steroids helps a lot of the cases. Some require surgical removal of the scarring, however, it can re-occur. Severity can be quite varied.

Depends.: Arthrofibrosis is scar tissue. Sometimes it will respond to an oral medication called a Medrol (methylprednisolone) Dosepack (prednisone). If that fails, you may need arthroscopic surgery to remove the scar tissue. Keep up with your physical therapy motion exercises.
