A member asked:

How do i approach my dr to explain the other aspects of a tsh for getting my hypothyroidism under control?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You need more: The only way to get a complete picture of your thyroid axis (assuming there is no immune reaction against it) is with a tsh, free t4, free t3 (liothyronine), (liothyronine) and reverse t3 (liothyronine). You need free T4 to see what the thyroid is putting out. You need free T3 (liothyronine) to see if it's being converted. And you need rev. T3 (liothyronine) to see if there's an imbalance between it and free t3 (liothyronine), (liothyronine) typically brought on by too much cortisol from stress.
