May be worth at try.: This is likely a high normal or even slightly above-normal result wtih some assays. Ask your doctor for an anti-thyroid antibody level. If elevated, i would definitely recommend treatment. If not elevated, a low-dose trial of T4 for a few months (aim for TSH around 1.0) may still be a good idea if you are having hypothyroid symptoms. It can be discontinued later if symptoms do not improve.

Not necessary: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your TSH level does not support hypothyroidism diagnosis. Taking medication, any medication, has side effects and it is better to avoid unnecessary medication.
