Yes: There are many triggers for vocal cord dysfunction (vcd). Stress, cold air, anxiety and even gastroesophageal reflux can trigger vcd. As mentioned, vcd does not respond to asthma medications, but it does respond to breathing relaxation techniques that can be learned from your allergist, ENT or speech pathologist.
