Is it safe to get cortisone injections after getting a total hip replacement?

Depends: It depends on the location. It is rare to need or recommend a cortisone injection into the hip joint after it is replaced. However, we frequently will inject the trochanteric bursa on the side of the upper thigh. This is not the joint. Also, injections in other body areas after hip replacement are usually safe.

Yes: Hard to know when the tha was and where the injection is to be done. The general answer is that yes it is safe to have a cortizone (hydrocortisone) injection after already having a total joint surgery. Make sure there is appropriate sterile technique used!
