My 5 year old had one of her toes scratched badly on saturday. it is a bit red. there is a bit of white or yellowish liquid coming out. is it infected?

Possibly: A good cleaning with peroxide may reduce the germ load and local application of antibiotic ointment might be enough to stop the process.However, if the surrounding skin is swollen or red and the kid complains of any pain I would take her in to be evaluated. If an infection gets into the complex structures of the foot it can be nasty and eventually need a surgical cleanout.
