If needed.: If the surgical site is not infected but is still painful, medication of the anti-inflammatory type should be tried first (ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, etc...These are nsaid's). They are available over the counter. A more powerful type of pain reliever (narcotic) requires a prescription form the treating dentist.
