Yes: Many people share your apprehension in going to the dentist, and many dentists sedate people, sometimes with 'laughing gas', IV sedation, or for milder cases, a pill. If you can't find a local dentist who will sedate you, consider contacting the nearest dental college or a hospital dentistry program who can guide you to someone who will. I'm glad you've decided to have the work done-its important.

Yes: It's a risk vrs benefit situation. Before undergoing general anesthesia have you talked to your dentist about all of the procedures that can be done to sedate you without putting you to sleep. There are dentists trained in both anesthesia and general dentistry who can evaluate you for sleep-dentistry. Ask your dentist for guidance.
