Many Can: Many dentists are trained and certified in sedation dentistry. This can be as simple as taking a pill to relax you, perhaps inhaling some "laughing gas," or an IV to put into what's called a "twilight" state. However, not all dentists offer this service. Each state has its own regulations and requirements regarding sedation. It's an extra cost, but for many patients it's absolutely what they need.
