Unusual: It is rare for a spider vein to be infected... Need more information. Do you have these veins down by the ankle or lower leg with other clusters of veins, or ankle swelling? Or trauma to leg? Is it on the leg? Was it scratched due to intense leg itching? See a vein specialist called a phlebologist: www.Phlebology.Org or dermatologist who treats skin conditions.

Unusual: These superficial lesions do not usually become infected. Best to have this checked by a vein specialist or dermatologist.

Infection and SV: It is unusual for spider veins to get infected. If this should occur then it would be treated as any other infection with antibiotics and local care. If you feel that you have a problem with spider veins then you should see a vein specialist.
