Need to discuss: In general the dose of a medication is chosen for a specific reason. With tegretol, the level of the medication can be measured and the dose adjusted to the correct level. If getting the dose to the proper level required 1000 mg then taking only 500 mg puts you at risk for recurrent problems. You should discuss your concerns with your physician.
