No: Genital mutilation as still practiced in some african countries is distinctly different than labiaplasty labiaplasty can be done to improve the cosmetic appearance of the labia minora. Labiaplasty can also result in functional improvements (less pain during sex, able to wear bikini, ride a bike, etc).

No creams. : No. Lots of people try and say this. It is the same as getting a male circumcision. Many women get this for reasons other than cosmetic.

Not by my patients: Labiaplasty has received a bad RAP from many in the press. When done well and for the right reasons however, patients tend to be very happy. :) http://www.Psinteractive.Net/lab_faq.Htm.

Ridiculous: Labiaplasty is a voluntary procedure performed to improve the appearance or function of the labia. Genital mutilation is destruction or damage to the genitals in order to damage or limit function typically seen in an oppressive society on an involuntary manner.

No.: The labia minora reduction operation is a highly patient pleasing operation. often it serves to eliminate a “functional” concern (such as pinching of the tissue in clothing or while performing certain activities such as horseback riding or biking) and/or improving the “aesthetic” concerns as well ( such as the presence of “excess” skin, asymmetry, or simply visually unappealing appearance).
