Other ways: There are other ways to solve this problem. Radioactive iodine can be used to control your thyroid gland as well. It essentially kills off thyroid tissue. It may be necessary for you to take a thyroid supplement over time. Another option is surgery to remove the gland completely. Again, with surgery, you will need to take a life-long thyroid hormone pill.
