Hyperthyroidism. 1.3 cm increase in thyroid gland. no effective oral medications. is operation is the only way left.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need more details: We need more information regarding the cause for your hyperthyroidism. The most common cause in the US is Graves disease. This can be treated with antithyroid drugs or radioactive iodine (RAI). In Pakistan you may have more toxic nodular goiter. This can be temporarily treated with pills, but will eventually require RAI or surgery, depending on the size of your thyroid. 1.3 cm is not very big
