A member asked:

Can dental problems be the cause of thyroid gland disorders - either hypo or hyperthyroidism? is a symptom a click in the throat when you swallow?

No: Usually dental problems don't cause thyroid issues. In some cases, the thyroid gland can get large enough to have some mass effect on the esophagus but not a click per se. See a doctor soon for further evaluation.

No: Dental problems will not cause your thyroid to malfunction. As to the click on swallowing, you will have to see an ENT for evaluation. Note that most dental problems are infections (cavities, gum disease, etc), and no infection should go untreated. Please see your Dentist.
