A member asked:

Is it unlikely that i have an overactive thyroid if i have no swelling of the gland, and no noticeable weight changes ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need evaluation: Hyperthyroidism (eg graves disease) typically involves a goiter, but it can be very subtle and sometimes hard to detect on physical exam even by an endocrinologist. Hyperthyroidism increases metabolism but also appetite, and many people do not lose weight. The first test would be to check your thyroid hormone levels.
